BSOD is killing me...

Well thanks for the help...cant seem to find this file anywhere. I think it's time I finally took it in to have it looked at. This has gone way past my knowledge base.

Nope...doesnt look like there is any dmp file being saved. Would it matter if the BSOD was happening before the system actually loads?

It's set up to write a small memory dump (64kb) to %systemroot%\minidump so as far as I can tell then it should be there somewhere, but looking manually or searching doesnt reveal anything. Not sure about the pagefile, when i try to change the memory dump type it gives me a warning about...

I searched and cant seem to find any windows dump file on my comp aside from if I download your example. My install is recent I have experienced crashes since then...is there a reason it wouldnt be there?

Ok thanks dclive, ill try that when I get home. I did run a memtest but I believe I fixed what was causing its problems. I may get memtest86 and give it a try later too quicksilver.

yes it's evga, so is the motherboard I'm pretty sure it isnt the psu, I tested that out on my other system. I just bought a lot of new pieces for my computer (ram, mobo, psu, video card). Both sticks of ram are kingston and I tried each one individually and in a few spots, same reaction...

So after asking around some and fiddling around it does in fact seem that my video card is the problem. It is regularly freezing either in the process of startup, I cant even manage to finish installing windows. Is there anything I can do about this or is the card just shot? Thanks

Hmm, would any of those have an affect if the hard drive was not connected? Even if the HD isnt connected it still stalls at random locations.

I was having problems getting much of anywhere before the computer stalled and I had to restart, I was able to get a linux partition installed but since then the computer is lucky to last 30 seconds before it stalls:/
