If you are even remotely worried about data recovery costs then setup a RAID (redundant array of INEXPENSIVE drives, hey word there is INEXPENSIVE, the whole point is to mirror/array your data so you will never need a data recovery service)....
In my opinion data recovery is not a sign of...
Nice find! I'm in for 1, buddy just got 2...I love it when a deal from a reputable store on a 5-yr warranty quality drive beats the cheapest no-name-store and 90day-1yr warranty white label drive off pricewatch... :)
Not to be a downer, but you're pretty much wrong on this. RAID 1 is mirroring, and mirroring can be done at anytime whether you're using a hardware based mirroring (where the mirroring is totally seperate from the OS, so the OS only sees one drive and has no idea what it really there) or...
You don't need a quieter drive....you just need a louder fan... ;)
I have one of these drives from when BB had it for $20, no problems I can't notice any noise at all from it, but my computer is under the desk on carpet, etc...
I was skeptical at first, but still ordered...got a square hub, shaker flashlight and a nifty USB->IDE adapter with power supply to ghetto-make your own external drives...I'm impressed with the stuff and it was hard to believe anyone could make money on this shipping it from Hong Kong, but guess...
Other company's sensors I guess...I have read similar reviews about sensor quality, although I think the lens makes/breaks most camera reviews. I have the Rebel XT and I wouldn't trade it for anything, small, quick, tack-sharp pictures that look awesome atleast up to 20x30" (have one on my wall...
NP with the coupon at the BB in Littleon, CO (Park Meadows Store)...the drives were sold-out on the shelf ofcourse, but I asked where they were (I had called 1 hr earlier and they said they had 35 of them), sure enough a whole stash up on a high shelf...guy got one for me...I figured he would...
On TD they list the warranty as 60-months...which is 5 yrs...is that right? I thought only SCSI drives EVER got 5-yr warranties...that doesn't sound quite right...

Looking right now outpost shows $89 - $60 (MIR) = $29 final, still not a bad deal, but haven't seen the $20 yet...
Edit: However when added to the cart it comes in as $79....sweet.. :)
Bastards, just had my order cancelled...apparently OOS now...argh!!!
I bought one of their 1/2" drills before, what a piece of junk, I paid about $7.99 for it, I couldn't cut ONE hole with it, smelled horrible, stalled 3-4 times cutting through 1/2" plywood, it finally just stopped and smoke was coming off the motor. I unplugged it and threw it in the trash...
Just FYI, after going through the process, this is the ftp address I was given, I used a normal ftp program to download it, not sure if what they gave me is specific to me...but here it is:
Linky - you still need to pick which iso you want
I have bought a few things from www.surpluscomputer.com (new name)...the stuff you buy is what you would expect. I bought one of those $5.99 1/2" drills, it works, has crap for power and smells like it'll catch on fire...hard to say it but it's not really worth even $6. I also got the TV tuner...
