Can I run Sata as my master drive and IDE as slave?

Okay, two things: Is there not a setting in the BIOS to set the computer to boot off the SATA drive? I know some mobos have this feature, what model do you have? What about removing the boot.ini file from your old bootable IDE drive?

Yep, no RAM = continuous beeps I haven't heard of it ever doing any damage to your board either. If you're just trying to figure out what's wrong, I would suggest disconnecting everything from the mobo (including the case pinouts), and use a jumper to jump the "on-switch" pins to turn it on...

I forgot to mention, the only reason I was thinking about 2 gigs of memory was for Longhorn. I'm able to get legit beta copies through work and I had heard that if you like the way XP performs on 1 gig of RAM, you will need 2 gigs for Longhorn to perform the same way.
