best software/way to EXACTLY duplicate a hard drive

Acronis TrueImage 7.0 is awesome, and you can span images across dvds or cds.

hardrive recovery tools?

Cleaned a friends pc..... New problem

A quick way to check if it is IE security would be to try a different web browser. I am sure there are many people here who could suggest one or two alternatives to IE : )

Best way to transfer data from laptop to desktop?

If they both have XP as the operating system this is easy through the router. In my network places- view network connections, click the set up an office network and follow the steps. You have to do this on both machines and reboot, but then they will be networked, and you can share folders and...

First-time LCD monitor buyer needs advice...

I have dual Dell 1901FPs and they are fantastic, especially for photos/graphics. I believe they have a 25ms response time though. (I think the 20" Dell lcd is 16ms) I dont do any gaming on them, but DVD movies are brilliant on them, and you cant beat Dell's service (Ive had good luck...

A7N8X-Delux wont boot with ata133 drives attached, sata is the system drive

It would appear mechBgon nailed it...The pci IDE card was seizing priority over the sata drive. Using the IDE ports on the mb solved the problem. I tried that previously and it didn't work, but I had been trying every configuration I could think of and at one point had the two drives reversed...

Adobe pdf documents..copy/paste/format

This method is very easy, but it requires software. Buy Adobe Acrobat 6.0. You can open any pdf document and then simply save it as a Word document. Works like a charm. Then you can edit it however you'd like in Word. Acrobat can export pdfs into many formats, including html, rtf, eps, txt...

AMD or Intel for video editing/rendering?

I didnt realize the hyperthreading helped multi-tasking so little. I have a P4 at 2.8ghz, and often have several processor-intensive programs going at the same time, but none are slowed down. I thought it was a benefit of hyperthreading.

Need experts in here...can't get any version of Word to start

This is odd. It seems like word isn't working within the 2k3 office suite at all, which would eliminate that the 2k3 install disc you have is corrupted. Here is something to try: open word from a different user account. I am sure you are using an administrative account, but I remember once...

AMD or Intel for video editing/rendering?

Would another advantage to the P4 be that, while rendering video with hyperthreading enabled, your system wouldnt be crippled to a snails crawl while doing something else, like surfing the net?

Monitor Dead? Is there a cheap way to fix or just replace?

I have dual 17" CRTs at home and dual 19" Dell LCDs at my office. I have noticed that the lcds are much, much, MUCH easier on my eyes. I say go for an lcd.

Xp firewall

my network places, local area connection, properties, click the advanced tab. THere you can turn it on and off. I have heard that ZoneAlarm is better, and I think it is free. Note that in XP SP2 the default is ON.
