Anyone have a Microsoft Surface Book?

Looks like you did the right thing. I've had 2 SB (first one got replaced because the screen digitizer had issues) and neither had that problem.

MacBook or Surface Pro

Sounds like you've lived in a PC ecosystem. I'd stick with the Surface Pro because of that. Not sure you'll take advantage of the portability/flexibility it offers, so if switching from Windows to MacOS is fine for you, then it's a wash. Both are going to struggle a little when it comes to...

You could always just buy some ear muffs/protectors from a hardware store to use with your earbuds. Looks ghetto if you're walking around outside like that...but if you're just sitting at home...

Best sales for TV's are actually right before the Super Bowl and a little after while new models are being rolled out. You could always head to the store and see whether the 900E is worth it over the 850E. I'd say yes for the added clarity, but that's just me. OLED is clearly still the best...

Best HDMI Switch? (4K/60 4:4:4)

are there 4k 120hz projectors?

The only true 4k home projectors are made by Sony. None of them do it. Not sure about the $50k+ professional market though.

Recommend speakers to cover 4000sf shop area?

Just get a used receiver from somewhere. I'd go pre-HDMI unless they plan on using digital sources.

Looking at these 2 TV's, help me pick one please.

VA Panels in high end TV's are usually fine in color reproduction. The bigger issue is viewing angles. VA isn't as good if viewed off angle...but the blacks and motion tend to be better.

Recommend speakers to cover 4000sf shop area?

Ceiling mounting would waste a lot of sound. Suggest wall mounting. I'm guessing this isn't for concerts but just even sound throughout the room? I'd go for more speakers so half the room isn't deaf while the other half can't hear a thing. That's such a large area you'd probably need more...

Surface Laptop

Yeah, I wondered about that too. I'm guessing the cloth/keyboard wouldn't work with a 360 hinge...would get nasty resting on a table. Keyboard would have to be inset too, which would probably make it fatter overall. Surface Pro is still best for going from pen/traditional use anyway.

It's a good buy for those people in your life that need a laptop that can "do everything" but you don't want to be "IT guy" for. IE: Relatives. Also: Kids who attract computer viruses as easily as they do normal viruses. For professionals they can upgrade to Win10. Personally, I'll stick...
