Epson 1240u not being recognized by Windows, help!

You know what, that's a really good idea. Unfortunately, I don't have any other USB devices :o I'll have to borrow something, I guess. Or get that Gamepad I've been looking at. Thanks for the suggestion!

Going to a computer show for 1st time, need info...

Just wanted to say, thanks everyone who helped me out. I ended up not going to the show, instead I went to Office Depot. I now have a brand new KDS 19" Flatscreen :D and for $400 too. I'll definitely check out the other shows in the Chicago area. Thanks again!

Just curious...is anyone actually going to buy the Geforce Ultra?

The title says it all...I can't believe anyone would buy this thing, with so many next-gen cards right around the corner, but if you're going to, I'd love to hear your reasons :D

need help on looking for a new monitor between 17-20"??

Good monitor reviews are hard to find, I asked about this is Gen. Hardware not too long ago. You might want to try C-Net and ReviewFinder, they both have a lot of monitor reviews. As to what size monitor, I'd say go with a 19". You only really need a larger monitor if you're doing...

Hey all you lucky freaks with PS2's...

casiotech : Notice I called them freaks :) I definitely wouldn't pay more than $300 for the thing. It would just be nice to get a good game system and a good DVD player in one box.

Umm...actually I was talking about PS2 DVD quality. But thanks for the info about Creative Lab's DVD players, I've heard they aren't the best.

...How is the DVD movie quality? Is it comparable to a regular DVD player? At this point, with so few quality games, I think this is a more important consideration for a $300 box of plastic. The reason I ask is I have a friend who may be able to score one for me, and I'm dying for a DVD player.

Whats the most important comp. component for certain type of tasks???

For all the tasks you listed, I'd say the CPU was the most important. In 3D gaming, I'd say the video card is just as (if not slightly more) important than the CPU. For video editing and burning you would also want a fast, large hard drive. However, I agree with Shagga that no one component...

RA2, first impressions

I didn't even know it was out yet. I'll definitely try it out, if for no other reason than the exploding cows. Apparently you can put bombs on cows, and then mind control them so they walk into the other guy's base. Get them all herded around the construction yard, then MoooooBOOOM! Now...

Why are mp3s so large?

Well it makes sense that the midi file would be smaller, since midis just carry notes and tempo information, not actual digital sound. But it's impossible for a song in wav format to be smaller than an mp3 of the same song, unless it's corrupted. About your last question, the only advantage...

Oh boy...I really hope you aren't asking for warez on these boards, buddy. The people here will eat you alive. If you aren't, and you're actually looking for a store that carries it cheap, I've seen the Game of the Year edition at Best Buy for like $20.
