If you really want to experience the difference between your raptor and your new Intel 80gb G2, do a fresh install with the g2 get everything just the way you like it and use it for 2 weeks. Then clone that setup back to your old raptor and pretend you don't have the g2 anymore! I promise you...

I voted single X25 160 although 2 in raid 0 would be great (I had this config for awhile) the difference in real world use going from single to raid is hardly noticable. There will be a great improvment over your current setup going to a single drive though! Having said that, I am considering...

Random, Best 7200 rpm drive

Great numbers for reads and writes but the disk access is still way slow compared to any SSD out there! Where I enjoy my Intel the most is that everything I do with my system is soo much faster!

What is the best tool to wipe free space on Intel G1 SSD?

Intel G2 2x80GB RAID 0 or 1x G2 160GB

I 2nd this experience. I've had raid 80's and 160's and other than benchmarks I haven't noticed much of a difference. Plus, you loose trim in Raid.

Advice needed about a new hard-drive

My understanding is that Kingston drive uses a jMicron controller. If so, I would definately take the Intel even at the smaller capacity. I'm mac stupid so i have no idea how much room your OS, apps and files uses, but I would go with an Intel or anything without a jmicron controller before I...

SSD on SATA I?

As stated earlier, disk access is where you will notice a huge difference. Particularly against a notebook drive, so even though you can't transfer faster than 150 you would likely not notice much difference in day to day use even if you did have sata 2. The real wow factor everyone gets excited...

Am I SOL on hot swapping SATA drives on ICH9R controller?

I've used Gigabyte boards with ICH9r controllers with ahci enabled in bios and XP pro many times in the past. I keep empty drive caddies on the front of my tower to hot plug drives out of other systems for imaging, cleaning, etc... I've never bothered to "safely remove hardware" and haven't had...

I was expecting sub c note too, but I was able to get the dane electric rebadged 80gb x18 Intel G1 for $150 so I don't feel too bad.

Thats the key! Sell them as close to the release of the new tech as possible and you recoupe a large portion of your investment to pick up the next one! Especially if you work that bing money!

Agility vs Intel G2 SSD

If resale in the near future for other upgrades is a concern, I would go with the Intel. Having bought and sold many SSD's over the past 18 months I've found the Intels to hold their value compared to retail quite a bit better than the others.
