Over on the avsforum, someone has posed the question about an 8400GS - is it good enough for "higher bitrate 720p or 1080i MPEG2 .TS content. The HTPC basically starts choking on these .TS files with stuttering and dropped frames. The CPU usage doesn't seem to be very high (around 30% if I...
I'm running with the stock BIOS rev 3.10 and I'm not overclocking, not gaming, not doing anything but running a std config. This is an MCE2005 machine and would like to go into and out of S3 seemlessly. I've turned off CnQ. Does 3.50, 3.60, 3.7x buy me anything?
I saw in the notes for BIOS...
I think the audio connector is a keyed all-in-one connector, and not the individual or 2-pin connectors that you could swap. I think this connector is specific to your case.
Question for the experts: I'm rebuilding my MCE2005 machine and was wondering if the new BIOS's are worth the effort...
Hmmm. I'm going to try this tonite. I have a nagging video problem that could be related to CnQ. Every so often, my MCE screen goes blank after I play an HD video. It happened after a clip was played and even the built-in calibration video in the Settings area, the video with 2 guys/2 gals...
That's 12W (a pretty large 12 ohm resistor). Switching supplies are known to have a minimum load current to achieve regulation. So, you may be right, but that sure is a lot of current. I'd measure the DC voltage under no load. If you read under 11V or above 13V, I'd say the supply is not...
Thanks for the great guide. I looked thru this thread and didn't see anything on the nvidia graphics driver versions, and PureVideo software but I'll get to that later.
I have the MSI -FID board and see that the MSI site shows v81.86 for XP/2000. But I'm building an MCE box, so I went to...
