In the end, I decided the extra voltage just wasn't worth the few MHz difference. I think I might have been able to get the CPU stable at 3.2 (it was running past 6 hours) but the voltage was quite high and the temps were around 66. By comparison, I managed to get it stable (sort of) at 3.025...

Yeah, the ram is running at 1:1 for sure. If what Noubourne is saying is correct regarding vcore needing to grow exponentially for additional overclocks, then it makes sense that I hit my max. At this point the extra 5 degrees may not be worth the 100Mhz. In any case, I'll see what I can squeeze...

I will try your suggestion Serpent. Just as clarification, I'm running RAM at 5-5-5-15, with 1.9 Volts. The tests I am running are Small FFT's. I hear max Vcore is 1.55. Is that a safe bet assuming temps are kept below 60 degrees? Thanks, Mo

This is just an educated guess, so someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'd assume that you would go by the numbers reported in Windows. The reason being that Vdroop is a real problem and not just a cosmetic problem. By real problem i mean the voltage is actually dropping, whereas a cosmetic...

When Orthos errors out?

IIRC the Tjunction temps for all the G0 chips are 100 degrees, correct? On intel's 6850 spec sheet (6850 Specs) the thermal specs for all of these chips say 70-ish degrees. For all of the other chips that are Tjunction 85 degrees, the thermal spec says: 65 degrees Where does the e4500 M0...

When Orthos errors out?

When Orthos, Prime95 and other similar programs errors out... is it always a result of too little voltage? I often see guides that say: if orthos crashes, you need to up the voltage. Which I can totally understand for most/many scenarios. However, can temperature ever be the culprit of orthos...

Thanks for all responses, it clarified quite a bit. From my last test I was able to get the chip stable at 265, with the vcore somewhere below 1.4 (4-5) notches below on the DS3 mobo. The chips were still reaching some pretty high temps, close to 70. At 275 it ran for a solid 2 hours, but...
