Hmm, I guess I usually stay entertained while a BD loads. I never noticed it ....
It took 18 secs for my LG BD370 to load the Dark Knight disc to display the WB logo.
Then it took 32 secs to load the movie to show the beginning of the film. Both timed using iphone stopwatch.
May be for...
The reason why I recommended the PS3 is because it can unleash more features as new updates become available. For example, in July Sony will release an update for it to be able to play 3D content. The hardware in it has much capability when compared to a regular BD player.
On a side note, I...
I own two Bluray players - both are intro level however LGBD370 and Sammy 1600. At this price range, I would recommend getting a PS3 instead .... I regret not getting a PS3 for my 2nd bluray player.
I believe PS3 can play both MKV and AVI files.
I would recommend an LG BD player like BD 390 over a Samsung player. I have both a Samsung and an LG BD player and I like my LG tons better. User interface is much better and netflix seems to stream better as well. Both players are on wired connection for me however.
I just bought the LS HS201 for general purpose use. Man this thing is bring at only 200 ANSI lumens. Color is awesome and for DVD/blueray it's awesome. I can use it for general viewing knowing that I don't have to worry about bulb life.
At 1000 ANSI Lumen, this Samsung unit will be real bright.
I am leaning towards the Optoma HD65. Bulb price is reasonable and from what I can see in Youtube HD, video quality is great. Amazon and web reviews seems to be quite satisfactory as well.
Thanks a lot for the tips. This helps a lot. I will mostly be using the projector at night as I have a 42" plasma to use for regular tv.
Ambient light is also not a problem. I will take measurements of the room and see if a projector will work out for me.
I am thinking about getting a projector to quench my hunger for large screen movie viewing. I have never owned a projector and most projector lamps tend to be outrageously expensive. So I am looking for suggestion on a 'best bang for the buck' type projector that would at least do 720p.
Any...
I picked up the LG BD370 from the local bestbuy store. They had the Sammy P1600 on sale for $129. Salesman owns the P1600 but urged that I get the LG. He was personally not happy with the DVD playback on the Sammy.
Thanks folks!
Thanks for the posts guys.
@Sep: Did you have any issues with the firmware upgrade? I read reviews saying that the machine stopped working after it received an automated firmware upgrade.
