Will RAID speed up photoshop?

I currently have Windows set to use a folder on my D: HDD as my temp, as well as most applications. But I also keep my files (mp3, jpg, avi, etc.) on that drive, so it was accessing the d: for the original file as well as using it for temp stuff. Ok, so considering the "scratch" drive...

Office 2007 - Academic version differences?

I hope you are right. The theory was that the Academic version is volume licensing, and that volume licensed versions are required to get the updates through the supplier (in this case, the school).

Heat pipe vs gravity + inverted cases

I'm looking at a Lian-Li V-1000 case, which flips the motherboard upsidedown (BTX style). This would put the heat pipe on my motherboard (Asus PW5-DH) with the fins at the low end of gravity. I understand the wick idea behind heat pipes, but is that enough to overcome being inverted?

SLI tearing still a problem with 7800GFX?

I have a 6800GT SLI rig with the Asus mobo and Viewsonic 1600x1200 LCD monitor, and ever since day 1, there has been tearing in SLI mode. Goes away in single card mode. Only appears to affect DirectX games (WoW, HL2, etc.). V-sync does not work, either from the control panel or in-game. 1)...

The total failure of SLI

It's an LCD alright. But I don't understand what the drawback is? I've never had any tearning issues (ie, vsync always appeared to work) before SLI. With just one 6800GT, there is no tearing. So, it doesn't seem to make sense that the tearing is caused by some technological flaw inherit to LCD...

The total failure of SLI

So much for not criticizing my hardware. The monitor is a Viewsonic VP201b, which commonly retails for about $700.00.
