Alright, guess I'll be sticking with the list then. As for the A8N-E, it does look nice, although I highly doubt that she'd notice the difference; not to mention that the K8NF-9 is a bit cheaper. :) Thanks guys. :D Should be interesting as it's her first build, so I'm going to walk her...

Thing is, she won't be overclocking (well, it's not top priority at the moment, and I doubt it will be later on, but who knows), and I've basically narrowed it down to a cost-effective choice; we've also considered the MSI RS480M2-IL, but because of the sub-par USB performance, we kind of stayed...

When I say "black screen", I mean right at her machine itself, say, when running simple camera apps to take snapshots, etc. She has the GF2 MX200 video card. Yup, I'll give that app a go, once she gets back home. Thing is, for settings and whatnot, I've tried playing with them already...

why 1280 x 1024 and not 1280 x 960?

Oh ok, makes more sense now. Was just pondering ever since on whether to run at 12x10 or 12x9 (been 12x9 ever since I found out about "it"). Guess I'm 100% decided now. Thanks. :)

why 1280 x 1024 and not 1280 x 960?

What I find strange for me on my NEC-Mitsu DP930SB is that if I'm running 1280x1024, the res on my OSD appears accordingly. If I run at 1280x960, it doesn't. Any other res shows up. Does that mean 12x10 is "native" to it?

Y'know what, you might be lucky. You absolutely sure you don't have VIVO? Or are you just going by the packaging? Check your card physically, and mod that if possible. :D EDIT: Oh my bad, seems like you did already check. Hmm, not sure then, sorry. :(

Ah, never thought of this before! I'd always use CDBurnerXP Pro's BIN>ISO converter first. Thanks for the tip - gonna be using that from now on.
