The Core 2 Duo/AMD AM2 'Real World Performance' Fiasco

The FX-62 is much cheaper at the moment: it costs $1000, and the E6600 costs what might as well be an infinite amount- it is unavailable, and as I recall it will be until the 23rd. When it *is* available, and AMD has cut their prices, you can then compare prices.

Why do some LCD HDTV's have a resolution of 1366 x 768?

I would imagine it's 768 because the standard 4:3 resolution for computer monitors was, for the longest time, 1024x768. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that they wanted to keep the height of the monitors identical for either software or manufactuaring reasons.

I wonder if it would be worth it for AMD to contract out a Dell order to Chartered or TSMC or something. Or, we could combine two pie-in-the-sky rumours and guess that AMD will buy out ATi and use their capacity. It all fits... (well, except that ATI doesn't really have a bunch of 90nm habs...

It's about 5 hours old :) This is for laptops and desktops, not just 4-way servers. That's not what the article seems to imply- it sounds like this was signed some time ago, and news is only leaking out now. I find it hard to believe as well- I don't know what orifice AMD could pull...

The Ram Question: 40MHZ or .5 less CAS Latency

Umm...why not try all three? It's not like it takes a long time. Run SuperPi 1M, change clocks with A64Tweaker, run SuperPi 1M. Wash, rinse, repeat as desired. Should take under 5 minutes. Whichever gives you a better time, keep it.

Trick question

How is it that my memory can run fine at 258Mhz, 1:1, and crash at 250, with the FSB at 300 and a 5:6 divider? Is it my CPU or my motherboard, or something else I don't even suspect? Multiplier is 10x, timings are identical. System specs are as follows: Opty 146 OCZ VX (Original...

Guys...he has specifically requested a *minimal* amount of modding. Cutting a 120x360 hole in a case is not minimal, in my books.

The kingwin kit is barely better than aircooling. There is no kit with the Storm and the Fusion- they're made by different companies. You have to get them seperately. Some of the major WC retailers are: cool-cases-usa, frostytech, shakra, jabtech, newegg...check the retailers' websites...

I think the cheapest you can get, besides the Thermaltake and Evercool garbage, is this one, which should perform about the same as the Maze4, and is also available in black delrin. You just have to make sure it fits between your SLI cards. If you're using a DFI Expert or an Asus motherboard...
