I have a problem with my DVD/CD drive. When I used to put a CD or DVD in the drive it would start on its own and play. Now for whatever reason it doesn't do that anymore. I hear it spool up and that's it. I can get it to play but I have to go to My Computer select the drive which opens up...
My 8800 GTX runs everything I throw at it very well with high frames rates and all settings pretty much maxed out except True Crime-New York. The original True Crime-LA ran crappy on my other PC too.
The game is not that great to begin with but I don't understand it running at about 30FPS...
I can't reset the BIOS with the jumper or unplugging the battery, I've tried several times. I must have blown something so I'm going to flash the BIOS tonight. I'll try that deal with the RAM but I think it must be BIOS related. I did change a couple of BIOS settings but if the settings were...
I just got a HP All In One 3210 printer installed. I used the software to install the printer and of course it wanted to install anything and everything HP has to offer. I used the lesser of the two install options. I also use Zone Alarm and now it seems that every time I turn around Zone Alarm...
I would imagine that if you're getting a cable bill there will always be a charge for the box. You wouldn't want them to lose out of any money now would you? As far as I know, cable boxes are not sold to the public unless they're hot. I'm sure the cable company would question it if you asked...

Thanks for the reply. It's my backup PC so I don't want to put a lot of money into it and it's not used for gaming anyway. I just ordered a 400 watt PSU from Newegg.com for only $33.99 with a $15.00 rebate, can't beat that. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817171007 I'd...
I upgraded one PC and want to put the leftover 6800 Ultra 256MB video card in my old PC which has a 300 watt power supply. Is this enough juice to run this video card and if not how will I know? Will the power supply just give up or will it give me an error message? Thanks for your help...
mechBgon,
I got XP re-installed last night. All it took was to change the boot sequence so it booted off the CD/DVD drive. I don't get it though, it gave the option to boot from the CD before but I probably didn't push the key fast enough and it booted to the HD instead. Thanks again for...
The problem I had was when I tried to delete the partition it told me it couldn't because the setup files were on there. Of course this happened when it booted off the hard drive and not the CD. Tonight I'll change the CMOS setup to have it bootup off the CD and hopefully I'll get the message...
I assume that it is a whole Windows CD as it is the original CD they used when I ordered this PC. Is there a way to tell? I had an E-Machines PC that had the recovery disc you mentioned and not the original XP CD. When I did the previous re-install on my new PC the other night, somehow the...
I think I may have found the answer. I did some more research after I posted and I think it's possible the my boot options are not correct in the CMOS. They are now: Floppy drive for the first boot device, the HD is second and the CD/DVD drive is last. From what I read the CD/DVD drive should...
I've re-installed XP several times over the past couple of years but haven't do so in about 6 months. I just upgraded my CPU and video card and wanted to do a fresh install of XP, yes it's the original disc that came with the PC. I can't seem to get it to the point where it reboots and tells...
I just installed an AMD 64X2 4800+ CPU on a Asrock Dual Sata2 939 Motherboard and had a question on the Bios settings. I've read that leaving the settings on Auto are not really the best way to go. The manual that came with the motherboard doesn't really explain the function of each of the...
