Sager..worlds best NB?

I was at a 1 day conference for ssd roadmaps yesterday, and the two micron guys were using thinkpads....just like mine. I think the 'Sager exclusively' comment by the micron guys is incorrect. happy_Gopher

Planning on getting an SSD [would like to get this sorted by tonight]

Alister, My Vertex2 2.5" drives all came with a bracket in the retail package, is that not the case for you? I am real happy with my vertex2 2.5" drives, but I have never had a 3.5". I have a spare bracket I will send to you if ya need it. Im in Texas....it will take a few days..... Happy_gopher

Intel510 slows way down.

New data. I just had my second 40GB Vertex2 failure. SMART 241 says 759TB. (the last one made it 741TB) Failure mode: half speed writes. 101MB/s max This is a wierd issue, still no cells retired, no other problems. But half speed is bad for me, so I consider it dead.

SSD storage optimization questions

I have run 2 of my 40GB Vertex2's out to 740TB and 760TB before failure. Definitely don't worry about wearing them out anytime soon. I think MLC is waaaaaaayyy under-rated. Happy_Gopher

SSD usage comparison thread

Since I saw alot of OCZ's in this thread, i though i would comment on mine. OCZ Vertex2 40GB. #241: 554,624 That an average of 238MB/s of writing for 645 Hours (POH) as of noon today. Cant wait to see it fail! 40GB*5K PE = 200TB, i am almost at triple that! Not bad for a cheap small drive. Not...

Pre-Formatting New SSD for New Machine, Boot & App Drive

I use diskpar for setting up ssd's under xp. you have to download it from the web. the command is (from a cmd line): diskpar -s 1 -s is the setup switch, and the 1 is the drive raw number. just set it up so that the first writeable block is at the correct page offset so your not at the middle of...

I really like my Micron P300's. they are really fast on a sata expander, typically writing over 330MB/s as jbods each, 100% sequential writes, and I am throttling them 24/7 with no heat generation yet in a 45C oven, no hicups, no issues, just fast. The only problem I have is they did not...

Yep, my goal is to break them. Some mfg's will give you a TBW that the drive is capable of, some just stick with the 5K writes for MLC, 30K for E-MLC, 100K for SLC. So my goal is to validate those lifecycles by writing at maximum speed until they fail. What I am finding, is that MLC is...

Intel510 slows way down.

I am running an Intel 510 with IOMeter 1.1.0, 100% sequential Writes. I start the test, and this drive will run balls to the wall for about 16 hours, then slows down to about 30MB/s over the course of an hour or less. It has done this to me every time I have started writing to it. Its new, maybe...
