Monitor loses signal intermitantly

Hi I have an interesting question - at least I think it is interesting. I have just built a bunch of computers (1.2 T-birds, DFI AK76, 128 MB Ram, 30 G WD hard drives, Rage 128 Pro vid and older Gateway monitor). Every once in a while, the monitor on one computer loses signal from the PC...

Pls help me on networking desktop and laptop with different OS

W2k Boot Disks wont work....

If you still want to boot from the disks (booting from CD is MUCH easier), try running SCANDISK on the floppy....could be a file problem.

<< i dont know why u guys are trying to boot with floppy if it wont even go past that press DEL on keyboard error message. >> The point I was trying to figure out was whether the computer was hanging because it had nothing to do after POST - I wasn't sure what the reaction would be...

Are the CMOS jumpers set to normal (PINS 2 and 3) or to clear? Are you getting any beep codes or anything? Make sure all of your jumpers are set right - the CMOS the voltage (if applicable) the CPU multiplier (if applicable) etc. We'll figure this out yet!

Floppy Drive light ALWAYS on

Sounds like the cable into the back of the floppy is backwards....turn it 180 degrees - the red stripe should be OPPOSITE of the red stripe on the hard drive IDEs

Check the pwer cable on the floppy - it could be backwards which would cause the light to stay on too. Make sure that the IDE cable is connected properly to the back of the floppy too - the red stripe tends to go to the left, while the IDE cables on the hard drives go to the right. Try that...

Do you have a bootable floppy? Put it in and see if you can get to the A prompt - this whole thing just sounds a little weird - gotta be something we can figure out. :D

Are the DFI AK76-SN mobo's any good?

I just built 6 systems using that board. It's not bad. Pretty stable. It depends I guess on what you want to do - the nice part is that the mobo has switches on the board for CPU multiplier and core voltage. If you get the board though, make sure you don't use the default core voltage on the...

Does the system crash? Do you get into Windows? If you get into windows are your keys working then? I wonder if something else is going on since both USB and PS2 don't work for you....hmmmm. I will have to think about this. Did you try tech support at the mobo company?

This might sound a little odd - do you have the PS2 keyboard plugged into the mouse port?! Some mobos are not well labelled, but the mouse generally goes into the green coloured one .... I have messed this up before, and I got similar results. ;):o
