GEOS - Kicked the crap out of having to do all that typing.... Workbench 1.3 - Was the first WB to allow autoboot from device OTHER than the floppy and was the most stable/compatible with all the (then) curent games. Windows XP - It's still enjoying a pretty good run...

Curious glitch in Vista build 5536

I haven't tried Oblivion, but when I tried to load up Prey, it crashed out with a driver error. I managed to get Madden 07 to load and play, but the graphics were kind of funky. People in the bleachers were sitting on thin air and occasionally displayed other small glitches, but the game was...

What is the biggest newb mistake you have made since you got interested in computers?

Swapped out motherboards on my old Athlon 1GHz machine. I reinstalled the heatsink and got everything back together. Powered on and screen went black, a puff of smoke and a nasty burning smell. Turns out I didn't bother to check the heatsink before reinstalling and a piece of my old MS...

What was your first computer?

Commodore 64 with 1541 floppy drive. Also did my first mod on the Commodore 64. Took an old SID chip from a broken C64 and put it in the other for "stereo" effect.

The xbox dvd drive

If it is a version 1.0 XBOX, it will have a Thomson DVD drive in it. Those particular revision DVD drives are known to crap out with the dirty disc errors. You have a few options. You can try cleaning the lens and see if that works. If not, you can try the infamous "pot tweak" (adjust the...
