Diamond Size

I bought my wife a diamond (0.85ct radiant cut, E VS1) roughly a year ago when i proposed. But I bought it because I had the money--and I spent what I thought was reasonable. I encourage ANYONE to do the same. Going broke to buy an expensive diamond is ridiculous--they say half of all fights...

A Military Enthusiasts Dream

I've been. Its fairly nice.... especially if you are a military HISTORY buff. Lots of WWII and Vietnam-era planes, equipment, etc. If you're expecting the bells and whistles of modern naval aircraft (or ships!), you'll be disappointed... but otherwise its great.

Well, I wouldn't agree with your sentiment based on prior posts. You go get an advanced degree to do the kind of work you want to do. Some people aren't content with the kind of job a BS can get them... hence graduate school. And it can be profitable, depending on your field (I know my 5.5...

My 2 cents: First, an MD and a PhD (as so many others have mentioned) are very different programs with different intentions. Do keep in mind that a PhD is significantly longer than an MD--most MD programs are four years post-bachelors while PhDs (especially in the sciences) are 4+ years...

Some people went to school for reasons other than the sports teams..... NCSU was actually 10th of 11 on the schools I applied to for undergrad. But it was hard to convince my parents to pay money for me to go somewhere else when State was free. The general consensus is that you should change...

Good LaTeX book?

The articles weren't in LaTeX--the content still had to be ported over. But I did use a "standardized" template for the dissertation--which took out 90% of the headache. Which is the best thing to do with LaTeX... as you mentioned, is to find someone else's template. Inserting figures and...

dullard... while I admit it has a steep learning curve, it really is quite efficient once you know it. And the print output is stellar. And as far as writing a dissertation... if it takes ANY significant portion of your time getting a PhD, you're doing it wrong. I wrote my dissertation...

Quiet SFF? Could this be done???

Already been done by Shuttle: Shuttle Zen Uses ATI RS300 chipset and any P4/Celeron you would like to use. A single fan cools the entire system.... Shuttle got around the whiny 40mm PSU fan by using a power brick. Only downside--no AGP slot. :-/ But yes, there are a lot of people...
