LG monitors are nice but for price/performance IIyama-bar none. Currently own an Visionmaster 511(22"), Visionmaster 454(19") and Samsung syncMaster 770 TFT. The visionmasters are brighter and clearer than the Samsung in all 4 corners. Computermart has the 22" for $650(shipped) and 19" for...
It sounds like an bad NIC--is it dropping the IP from the modem? If it is then it's usually the NIC. Try pulling up winipcfg(win9x) or ipconfig(nt) and see if you renew ip. If it renews and drops it again before the lease time is due then it's definitely the NIC.
For a simple LAN Party just use static ip's--as long as they are in the same subnet. DHCP is only available in server(2K, NT 4.0). Or just let the hub/switch kick out ip's.
Have her check the monitor in device manager. Change it to plug n play monitor if it doesn't recognize her monitor. She could also get an inf file for the monitor. Have her install DirectX 8.1
Most DVDroms come region free and will let you change it 5times before it locks itself and then you can't change it anymore unless--you use region hack.
No, you're ok. Just create user (ME user--login name on ME) on the XP machine. Then in the share printer permissions give the ME user rights to it. You'll need the HP drivers for ME once it installs that printer.
3.5GB's if fine if you don't plan on installing alot of apps. I run dual boots w/ W2K and WinXP but install the same apps to the same directory for both OS. On my W2K partition(5GB--no games). WinXP takes about 1 GB to install but with future SP's 3.5GB is fine.
Did you try pressed CD's to see if the burner can read them. I recently also purchased an Liteon 24x and it couldn't read anything but burned ok. RMAed it--got new one and everything is perfect now.
Make sure CPU is seated correctly--usually it's the CPU when everything powers up and no activity. Also take video card and ram out--if you get beeps it's not the CPU but ram or video. Two beeps w/ one long is video. Two beeps constantly is ram.
Need crossover cable from dsl to Hub/Switch.
If your provider gives two ip's just pull them.
If you only get one IP--you'll need to run ICS(server) with one of the computers and the other being an client. The server needs to NIC's.
