Made my last purchase at best buy.
Last December bought some memory (PNY) with a rebate offer. Completed it and mailed it by the deadline and received a Certificate of Mailing from the PO confirming mail date. PNY sends back a postcard denying the rebate as late (it was not). After calling PNY...
Every year I buy tax software packages in part to get a new version of anti-virus software for free after rebate. This year Syamntec offers rebates on AntiVirus and Personal Firewall if you buy tax software. Some stores and ads clearly state that you can get rebates on only one of these Symantec...
I have been getting an occasional blue screen of death when executing commands in IE 6. I figured that it might have gotten corrupted and should be reinstalled. But unlike 3d party software, I don't see IE 6 when I bring up the Add/Remove Programs control panel in Win 2K.
First: Is uninstalling...
I use the internal modem for occasional faxing, connecting the phone line only at those specific times. I don't want to remove it perminently unless absolutely necessary. I am reluctant to buy an external modem because I just won't use it that much. I'd rather buy fun stuff.
The phone line...
I tried installing the driver for this particular modem as specified on the ActionTec web site, but am still getting the alert.
I am concerned that I may fry something. Should I remove and replace the modem??
I recently began getting an alert identifying my modem and reading "Excessive line current. If problem persists, unplug phone line to avoid damage to your modem."
This perplexes me. While I do have a modem installed, there is no phone line connected to it. I use a DSL modem and Ethernet...
EagleKeeper:
Forgive the dumb question, but while I know how to create directories in DOS I am not sure what you mean by creating directories in Win 2k. How do I do it?
I tried dragging the files from a desktop folder to the A drive and it was excruciatingly slow.
Thanks.
When using BLOCKQUOTE just remember that you are indenting on both the left AND right side of your content. If you only wish the left side of your content to be indented, blockquote is not the tag to use.
I have an ongoing need to make multiple copies of various floppies. The standard windoze implementation seems to require that the master be reread for each copy I make. None of the freeware/shareware options I am aware of seems to have received glowing praise. Is there a good option on a Win2K...
For the less "porn dialer aware" among us (like me),
1. What do they look like, and how do you check your computer to see if you have any?
2. How do you get rid of them?
Thanks
Microsoft Rebate Woes continued:
SilentRunning asks about sending in the entire box top and not just the UPC. I did send in the box top (so bulky) and they "lost it" anyway.
About the Ridgely MD vs the New Jersey processing site, as BillRubin asks, I did not think to ask who was actually...

Well, now Microsoft is getting into the business of bogusly rejecting rebates. I sent in a rebate for Zoo Tycoon (rebate form in the XP Launch rebate book). I got a rejection letter today saying that I did not send the UPC. I most definitely did send the UPC, as it's no...
I am new to the Windoze platform and recently upgraded to Win 2K. Lately when starting up, Win 2K stalls after the Win 2K splash screen appears and the blue start up bar is about 75% complete. Forcing a restart gets things working fine, but I can't help believe something needs fixing.
Any clues...
