No gaming, just MP3ing. It would be nice to have only a video card in my machine. Which has better playback, the SBLive! or the P4PE's integrated audio?
Where might I find a bootable CD with EMB (Emergency Boot Disk) functions like fdisk, format, xcopy, etc? Is there a quick way to make one with XP? I use the floppy solely for prepping a drive, and would love to be without it.
Mine used to howl during a reboot. I prefer the silence of a good ol' floppy drive. Also, you'll have to sacrifice an IDE connection (if they're all IDE, as mine was).

Thank you, all, for the advice. I'll keep an eye on my memory usage and make sure I'm not getting too close to maxing things out. Anyway, with memory prices constantly dropping, I'll probably be able to get another 512MB in the near future for a coupl'a bucks.
Thanks again,
Michael
Hello world!
I've got a P4PE and a 512MB stick of Crucial PC2700 333Mhz on the way. I'm not a gamer -- I think I may be a memory-hungry business user, though. In XP I normally have 15+ instances of Explorer open, Outlook (which I believe opens Word for composing email), Adobe ImageReady...
Thanks to our good friends at NewEgg and Crucial:
Asus P4PE/R/GBL/F/SATA - $160 (free shipping)
Pentium 4 2.4b 512K 533MHz - $191 (free shipping)
Crucial 512MB DDR PC2700 ~ $145 (with basic shipping)
Total - $496
Edit: ...forgot to mention why I'd choose (chose) them. Asus P4Pe is known for...
Thank you for the input so far. The quote is not from Compaq, but rather from the company that will be installing the equipment. I'll give Pricegrabber a look-see. Sure enough, the server itself is a few hundred cheaper at PC Connection; thanks, CheeLew.
'preciate it, folks :)
Dear Anandtech hardware gurus,
A close friend is about to make a server purchase. He showed me a quote and asked if he's being overcharged, but I'm not very familiar with server products and pricing. Just thought I'd throw the numbers down and see what you guys thought. I'm not going to...
I'm pretty sure this is a universal promotion, but not 100% positive. The email looked very generic, though...
So, I got an email from Columbia House DVD this morning with a promotion for free shipping, today only, on purchases over $49. This comes in handy considering that some individuals...
