Heat Gun Power?

I'm looking to buy a heat gun to assist me with getting into hardware that is glued together, i.e. mobile tablets, touchscreen laptop screens (the lcd is often glued to the digitizer glass) and other similar I.T. things. I've no idea of the required power needed as I've never owned one. On the...

Asus Z87 External Temp Display?

I'm looking at buying one of the Asus Z87 motherboards for my new setup. I know you can see the temps in the BIOS or via AI Suite (?) but it would be much nicer if I could attach something to the motherboard that could sit externally to give me accurate up to date internal temps? :confused:

Weird Laptop Motherboard charging query

Fair enough..... To clarify, there have been NO lights on at any time, regardless of what I've tried so far, and I was wondering if the CPU was potentially dead causing my issues. Would the charging light come on when external power was applied if the motherboard was working, but the CPU...

CorkyG, I'm confused with your answer. How do you know the charging circuit works? I've not said anything to indicate that. My original question has still not been answered though.... Also, I'm wondering if the DC power connector may be faulty (and the battery has clearly run out of power) ?

Totally zero in every way, i.e. no lights, no fans, nothing. I've also tried 3 different compatible AC adapters "just in case" with the same result.

Replacement LCD "changing colours" on startup!

Just an update.....I got a replacement LCD ribbon cable & inverter with no difference at all. :\ I then got yet another replacement LCD, but this time I made sure it was the EXACT same make/model as the original one and it works perfectly! :o Clearly, something on my 1st replacement was not...

Replacement LCD "changing colours" on startup!

No..if I re-install the old, cracked LCD, I can still see a small bit of the POST text on the non-broken part of the LCD on a black background with white text which is correct.

If it WAS somehow stuck in a test/calibration sequence, how do I go about correcting this??? D: Are there any small buttons/pins that could be changed on the back of the LCD in the "do not touch" area?

I've just installed a replacement 17" LCD for my Sony Vaio laptop as the previous one got cracked (you could only see the working edges of the screen, but everything outputted perfectly to a external monitor) and have a strange problem! I simply installed the existing ribbon cable into the rear...

Soldering Query

Total budget would be no more than £100 but I'm now quite confused having read these replies as some people say use a 25w and others say use a 40w+ and there have been other technical terms that I've not heard of, i.e. braid, desoldering wick, rosin
