Help me build a pc!

If you're undecided on a monitor, may I suggest getting a factory direct monitor such as a Cornerstone. They supply monitors for buisness level applications for designers and graphics. They have a good comparison chart there so you can see the price performance ratio of different monitors...

Computer case sound dampeners - do they really work?

So have you guys actually tried sound dampening yet? I don't think it's that bad but for the money it doesn't give much bang per buck. The whole point of sound dampening is to convert the acoustical energy into thermal energy so of course it may get hotter. Not by much IMO as my PC temps...

Regular Speakers with Sound card

The speakers need power to play such as from a separate amplifier that gets hooked up with the sound card, or an integrated receiver. The sound card speaker out has roughly the same power as a headphone jack. So it would be like plugging a home theater speaker into a portable walkman. Sure it...

better PSU?

I would want the powersource that creates the least amount of line noise that gets played through the speakers. My Antec 300w smart power supply creates a soft yet notceable high pitch wine through my speakers.

Z-680's now found on logitech's site! *updated* now with review. Updated again with even more reviews.

Wow how misleading: "Feel earth-shaking bass with 450 watts RMS of thunderous power" When the subwofer is actually only getting 185w rms. "The Logitech Z-680 gives you THX-certified theater quality digital sound" but it is THX "multimedia" certified so as not to get it confused with home...

Insane Case Mod with PICTURE!!

Nice craftsmanship with the window though I may have you beat with the mods despite that I don't have lights or windows. I revised my case page to look nicer: LINK. I've highly modified my case but it's nothing compared to how I've modified my PC's sound system.

does is matter whether or not you use powerfan or chassis fan connectors?

I believe so, at least that's what I concluded since all the mobos I've worked on so far have same fan RPM whereever i plug them in.

SoundCard Upgrade?

My assumption based from previous sound card upgrading is that you won't notice a big performance or sound quality jump. Sure it'll probably be there, but it also depends on the speakers you have whether you'll notice the SQ. If was a serious gamer I'd make sure the FPS are as high as possible...

How do you set up your 4.1 or 5.1 speakers?

My home theater is an audiophile dedicated 4.1 setup, you can see the layout at my site. There are drawings with labeled "bed" and component positions. Surrounds can be setup 2-3 feet above the listeners ear level for ambient effects, it's what dolby recommends. My surrounds are about 3 feet...
