I totally agree! I bought the 9700 pro to play games at a higher image quality with playable frame rates and not to increase my 3dmark score. I've never used 3dmark and don't care to. It's so ridiculous how some people live and die by their 3dmark score.
Well what ratio are you talking about? 1:1 or 5:4. 250FSB @ 5:4 is no problem since the mem is running at spec. 250 @ 1:1, not in your life. I'm assuming you're talking about using an 800Mhz FSB processor here.
It's easier to use your nose. Take out all your components and sniff them across all their surfaces. You should be able to smell where the burn came from.
Well, I just disabled HT in the BIOS and the app seems to work fine (no freezing). The thing is my CPU temp went up by 10 degrees Celsius with HT disabled. Dunno if that's a bug or not. Nevertheless I applaud Hauppauge for their nice work.
I just installed my 2.6c CPU and the WinTV2000 tuner app starts freezing after a minute or so. It never did this before when I had my 2.53b installed. It freezes even at stock speed. 3D games work fine however. I even tried the lastest driver and WinTV2000 app revision. Do you think an XP...
What you need to do is get into the main BIOS screen. Press CTRL+F1 and it will bring up a submenu called Advanced Chipset Features. This is where you change the mem settings. Change it to manual from SPD and timings to 3-8-3-3 to start off with (I don't know the specs of your RAM). Then...
That's the bootup problem where the SPD settings of the memory is too fast for the mb's memory controller. You have to get into the BIOS and change the setting from SPD to manual and relax the mem timings. You can 1) try 1 stick of mem or 2) if you have an older stick of DDR RAM use it to get...
I wanted to run in dual channel (2x256) and I wanted to give Corsair a shot. In the near future I'll probably get some OCZ PC3700 and see how good they are and keep the better pair.
For you peeps that can't run at 8x AGP stably with a 9700pro. I found this on the ng. Dunno if it really works but it's worth a shot.
I just talke to Giga-Byte Tech support. He told me to make the adjustments
on the BIOS and I've been running stable on 8X all day!!! Unbelievable.
Steps:

Check out my rig. I've got a 9700pro running on this board at 8x AGP with fastwrites on with no problems. The problem was with Granite Bay boards where the 9700pro was unstable at 8x and had to be run at 4x.
