The nail techs I know receive 600-800 in pay per week plus tips (could be another few hundreds depending on how busy the salon is). I'd say they take home between 50k-60k/year. Most of it is cash though.

Check your local Asian markets. A Vietnamese market here in SLC usually has them but be prepared to pay around $14 for a dozen :(

Try the Eat section of this page. Also try some Ho Tay Fried Shrimp Cakes. My most memorable meal in Ha Noi was called a "Com gao 8" meal, basically a full-size meal with delicious food and steamed rice. Too bad I don't remember the place :(
