How do i install a 2nd harddrive?

@robkas, That's pretty much it, but you can also right-click on the newly installed HDD in the explorer and choose Format. Make sure there's no jumper conflict between the HDD and any optical drives. @DiverDave, Pretty much all IDE cables come with 3 connectors--one for the motherboard...

How big was your 1st hard drive...

20MB in my 8088 PC-XT. I was so thrilled that I didn't have to swap out WordPerfect 5.1 in various 360K 5.25" floppies to run the program... Now at home, altogether in 5 computers, I have over 2.6TB (I do a lot of digital photography and video editing)... that'd be a 136,300x fold increase...

possible partition?

It's possible, but kinda pain. Most programs will let you specify where to put the files; when installing, choose "Custom" install options, not "Typical," and just change the drive letter in the path to D: (so that you'll end up with "D:\Program Files\xxxxx..." I really wouldn't advice a 5GB...

Which would bring better laptop performance--faster HDD or more RAM?

Is it safe to unplug USB devices?

Going to single monitor from dual setup--problem with the "ghost" monitor!

Purdue, That didn't do it. In the end, we ended up temporarily hooking up a second monitor, extending the desktop to it, opening the offending window, moving it to the first monitor and control-closing it. Thanks anyway!

Why does Windows freeze briefly when a CD/DVD is inserted?

My WD 320GB SATA II rates at 60 MB/s ... Good ?

That sounds about right--I get 65.6MB/sec using HD Tach with my Seagate 7200.10 SATA II drive.
