I played save and kept it at +0.2v (1.63-1.66 in CPU-Z 1.31) at a good spot between too little and too much. Temp reads < 43°C under full load.
Maybe two additions: My PSU is a 350W Fortron which scored well at a comparison at TomsMarketingGuide (real power >400W). And I'm not 100% sure I...
I finally bought new stuff after my trusty P4 2.4C@3400, I'm a first time A64 Opteron user now. I got 2 146s Venus here, both with a stepping that's being known for overclockability (0540 CABYE FPBW). The board is an EPoX 9NPA+ ULTRA also known for good stability, cooling is provided by a TT Big...
I see contradictory information about the compatibility of Opteron (Venus) processors with the 939Dual-SATA2 board. Some people say it works, some say it works until BIOS rev. 1.20, some say it doesn't. Do you have any reliable info on this?
Thanks Evan for clearing this one up. I was quite sure it was just some rudiment of former PE tests.
I was referring to the new FSB 800 CPU: 2400 = 18*133 vs. 12*200. In your Test of the ABIT BH7 from April 6th you mention:
I was thinking the FSB of 218 Mhz would maybe be the limit of this...
Evan, I don't get the actual settings for the 845PE board in the comparison:
In all benchmark diagrams it says:
Please enlighten me: what settings did the Abit board run on?
- FSB speed
- memory speed
I see an advantage of about 5% in DivX and Game benchmarks. This would suggest it ran at...
This week will be the bomb concerning brandnew tests and information.
The only thing really important is the amount of possible overhead for raising the FSB. What if it ends at 220 Mhz? This would turn a 2800@800 into a 3080 Mhz CPU at incredible memory speeds. But still any 2.4 at 175+ or 2.53...
Thanks Thugs for the fine link (an compiling the thread's info of course).
Makes me love my cheapo current config even more (P4 2400 C1@3060 with default voltage and cooler, PEV Pro, Samsung 3200@425 2,5-3-3-6). Can't beat the combo at it's price. :)
I'm running 2.4B C1 @ 3.06, 512MB of Samsung PC3200 @ DDR425 2,5-3-3-6.
Chip goes higher but I'll stick with stock cooling. This is the cheapest deal i remember. Top notch performance for an unbeatable price till next gen. ddr2 is available.
Question: is there a patch to adjust SDRAM Command...
I'm in the market for a new rig. I was was thinking of an Intel system with a cheapo but fast Albatron PX845PEV Pro as well as a P4 2,53 that would possibly hit 3 Ghz.
Fact is, I don't need it now, but rather want it. Should I wait for the Athlon 64bit Hammer CPU? Or will I be the guinea pig...
Which one of those 2 would you chose for your box? Both are 7200 RMP and have a sweet 8 MB cache. IBM should be a tad faster but are they reliable enough?
Sidenote: both are about 325 ?/$ for me so money does not come into play.
not too many, still 2 record breaking Intel CPUs:
p200@227 = 13.5%
cel400@503 = 25% <--- baaad pci bus
cel366@633 = 73% !!! still running quiet at 605, 1,9v without active cooling in my movie box
Athlon Tbird 1100@1333 = 21%
Athlon Tbird 1333@1520 = 14% <--- my everyday box, a dork :P...
the review is very nice reading.
my question would be: what board would you choose? the proven fantastic overclocker but a bit old EPoX EP-4G4A+ or the brand new contender 4PEA+ with official DDR333 support?
i'm in the market for either of these fine boards but i'm really undecided.
