is vista really this bad?

I have the ATI HDTV Wonder too. Check around on thegreenbutton.com forums for the Kram hack to get the analog tuner to work (its MUCH MUCH easier to get it to work in Vista than it is in XP MCE). I have it working in Vista MCE now. I don't need (want) ATI's software.

Pre-RC1 Vista build 5536

I have a GeForce Go 6800. And the artifacts and glitches are getting worse. Its actually making it unusable for me. At least for me, this release seems to be buggy as hell. But it might just be some driver issues. I'm at work, so I can't tell if there's any updates or not for the hardware...

Do you have that problem in XP as well? If it works fine in XP but doesn't work right in Vista, then its probably the video drivers. I've been having some weird issues with my video drivers in my laptop as well (I have a GeForce Go 6800). Look at my post above yours to see what I mean.

From what I've read, RC1 is supposed to be released around the end of this month or early september. I for one can't wait until it's released. I'm really interested to see the improvements that have been made since Beta 2. Since i use Beta 2 pretty much every day as the main OS on my laptop...

Random Background Changes?

I was just wondering about this. I found a site with a TON of 1920x1200 background images and I was curious to know if there was anyway to have windows randomly set the background like everyday, or if this was possible without me having to set it manually? I've never even tried to do this...

Question about video editting

You can do this with just about any editing/conversion program. Just set the resolution you want. However, I will warn you that upscaling a video will result in lower quality overall. If you want a free program to do this, just use Virtualdub-mpeg and convert to DivX.

Some nice prey Screenshots at 1920x1200

Your experience with Vista Beta 2

This is weird. I haven't had any problems at all with going into sleep mode on my laptop, or hibernate either. Sleep resumes just like in XP for the most part for me. It takes a "little" longer to resume, but I think thats just because I don't have enough memory (512MB, got 1GB of OCZ coming...

Windows XP lag after leaving computer on overnight

My guess would be that most of the stuff that was in memory (doesn't really matter how much memory you have at this point) was paged out. So its swapping it back like xtknight said. Does it speed up after a few minutes? Or does it continue to do it?
