I would love to tinker with the firewall settings. However, I'm a newbie when it comes to firewalls. I don't want to open random ports and expose my PC to the internet. Do you have any specific suggestions to try (or a link to some website that explains this port mess)?

Yes, I understand that switching if off will fix the problem. But I like the fact that CPU usage goes down when nVidia is enabled (as one would expect with a hardware-assisted firewall). Besides, the firewall works perfectly. I just need to find the setting to enable network monitoring.

MCE 2005 minimum video card requirements

A very cheap card (~$60) that will give excellent quality is GeForce 6200 TurboCache (paired with nVidia's PureVideo software decoder). Unfortunately, you have to be on PCIe.
