Problem is, USB isn't a peer-to-peer interface. A USB modem expects to be connected to a PC running Windows or any other operating system with drivers. It's not like Ethernet where you can just send packets to something. I think you're SOL unless you either buy a DSL/cable modem with Ethernet...
You're almost right. Windows XP Pro recognizes the difference between logical and physical processors, so if you have two Hyperthreaded processors, it will recognize them as 4. If you have 4 real processors, it will only recognize two. I assume WinXP Home will only recognize one physical and two...
The specs you linked to are for the CSi, which is the ///M division version of the 850. Most 850's produce 299 or 326 hp based on the year produced.
The 8-series was never an acceleration car, it's a GT cruiser. If you tried to race him to a top speed, you'd never win.
No, he's talking about the P4 Xeons that are meant to be used in >2-way configurations that have an additional L3 cache. I think the codename is Foster. The current P4 Xeons can only be used in 2-way configs, and also don't have L3 cache which allows them to clock higher.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Mobility Radeon and the Mobility Radeon 7500 are two different chips. The one on the Dell site is listed as the Mobility Radeon, so it's slower than the 7500 and without T&L.
Has anyone else had trouble using the 2.5" USB enclosure from Computer Geeks with Win2k? The diskette that has the drivers has a folder for Windows 2000, but the drivers always seem to fail. It works fine on Win98SE, though.
Perhaps it's the fact that most games take 12-18 months to complete, and a lot of that time is spent testing and debugging to make sure it works on existing hardware, let alone the newest stuff. By the time a title goes gold, it's frozen and can't be changed, except with patches later on...
Even cooler is the MiniPCI card that some other company-whose-name-I-can't-recall-right-now is releasing for laptops. That's the one with 2X mode, so you can have a 108 mpbs wireless network without a card hanging out of the side of your notebook!
Well, it finally happened and I was stupid enough to not have backed up my work in the last few months. I was greeted with the sound of heads meeting platters when I took my laptop out of suspend tonight. I called a data recovery service and they're saying it could be anywhere from $400 to $1600...
My pet peeve has got to be people who take their time in the left turn lane. Left turn lights are very short and your car WILL NOT flip over if you go faster than 5 mph in a turn!!
Okay, I've been programming for a long time, but this is my first serious attempt at real 3D graphics programming in awhile so bear with me. I'm working on a 3D realtime strategy game in DirectX 8. I've got a basic framework for game logic working, but I'm having some trouble with clicking...
