Oh, one thing i forgot to mention... this thing wasn't originally mine; it was just given to me since it died. So all i'd have to spend is the money for the mobo, or a new laptop...

Toshiba A35-S159 Needs a new mobo...

I've seen boards for these things ranging from $300 all up to $750. I'm thinking that if i can get one for $300 or less then i might got for it, rather than buy a new laptop... what do you guys think? It's slightly over a year old, P4m 2.8GHz, 256MB RAM, DVD/CDRW, WiFi.. yeah, no hard drive...

I'm sorry to be the practical one here, but with computer/component prices as low as they are today, why bother? Just build two systems. ;)

Hmm, thanks for the heads up man. I bought two of the same model drives around June last year and one of them started to give me trouble a few days ago. I had them mirrored. I rebooted the system because i installed a program and i found that it was taking way too long for Windows to start. So...

Unique Hardware Purchase

I have a NEC ND-3520A and i'm pleased as punch with it. It's fast and very reliable. And the best part? I only paid $80 for it. (Yeah yeah i know, Newegg has them for much less, but i'm not in the US) ;)

Yeah i would also recommend that you buy a more powerfull, higher quality PSU. What you may also want to try is testing your RAM. Bad RAM can also cause problems like that. I use a free memory testing program called Memtest86+. It's based on the original Memtest86, but it's been updated soit...

What is the best piece of computer hardware you have ever purchased?

I would have to say my Speed Touch 510 DSL router. That thing got soaked when Hurricane Ivan came over Grenada. I opened it, let it dry out completely, sprayed off the PCB with some contact cleaner, let it dry, put it back together and it's what i'm using now in Barbados. :-) It was expensive...

I forwarded port 3389 in my router and my XP Remote Desktop works perfectly. Maybe what has happened is that you have forwarded it to an IP that no longer exists. For example, if your Belkin router has a DHCP server in it and is enabled, and your computer is to set to get an IP automatically...
