Can someone explain to me the difference of ddr2 800 vs ddr2 667.

Most people have been able to get that high with the e6400. I've got 3.2Ghz out of my e6400 right now with Patriot DDR2-667. I've got my system clock at 400Mhz and my RAM at 1:1 with 4-4-4-12 timings. I think you'll be able to easily get to 2.8 but it depends on the particular chips/mobo you...

So when I set my System Clock to 400Mhz and CPU-Z says my DDR2 RAM is running at 800Mhz it's actually running at 1600Mhz?

Yeah, that's correct. I have a e6400 @ 400Mhz system clock right now. My ram is at 1:1 and running at 800Mhz.

DDR2 isn't quad pumped, it's just doubled. If your system clock is 266Mhz (default for Core 2), then your ram will run at 533Mhz (266 x 2), your FSB will read 1066 (266 x 4), and your processor will run at whatever it's multiplier is x 266 (on the e6300 it is a 7x multiplier so at a 266Mhz...

Is it normal for my CPU fan to do this?

Isn't this expected behavior? It only turns on the fan when it needs to to save power and to reduce noise. It's pretty annoying at bootup though when my 70C alarm goes off on the motherboard before the fan spins up. =/

When I rebooted after installing the INF drivers windows wouldn't load. It said pci.sys was missing and I had to go into the recovery console to replace it. No problems after that but it was a pretty big annoyance.

Update: I tried some OCZ value from PCClub and it still didn't work. They then sold me some "generic" (CPU-Z says it's SpecTek) 512 sticks because they were all out of 1gb sticks of kingston and buffalo, so I'll probably get some of that whenever it comes in. RMA refunding my G.Skill back to...

Yeah, I tried 1 stick at a time in all 4 slots. I tried the other stick in all 4 slots. My friend flashed to the latest bios on Gigabyte's website. That anandtech article didn't really talk about this motherboard, but maybe I should've taken their recommendations anyways.

I get nothing from either board with just a speaker hooked up, but I don't think I've ever gotten a beep from a mobo without a CPU, working or not.
