I've had good success with the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum. Then again, my Corsair 3200XL didn't work with that board either. Hmm... you could just wait a few weeks for a PCI express motherboard?

From reports I have heard, the less aggressive Corsair memory should be fine. Also, I don't think it is the manufacturer fault so much in this case, but ANY Samsung-based 2-2-2-5 DDR memory. The Micron 2-2-2-5 stuff seems to work fine. Crucial uses the Micron RAM. Corsair uses Samsung RAM...

The stock HS&F should be able to get the job done until you find something better. Atleast this could take the urgency out of your shopping. I believe I tried fitting this cooler on the GA-K8NSNXP-939 and the DPS power supply cover was in the way. I'm sure if you took the DPS fan off it...

SHOULD BE HERE SOON! But you might be on to something. Robor, better count your pins! Motherboards can be 754, 939, or 940 pins. The gigabyte board in question is 939 pins. The A64 3200+ in 939 pin package is VERY NEW... I assume you just bought it?

Best advice I can give is to get different memory. I have been having better luck with Crucial Ballistix with this chipset. Ugh, I don't think much of the gigabyte board either. I definately think its a combination of problems.

Once I figure out how to install the BIOS, I'll try it for ya. I took a shot at it this morning (from Windows), but it told me it was the wrong chipset, lol. I had to go to work so no time to fiddlejack with it. Maybe my BIOS is write-protected? I'll have to check. I'll try the new BIOS...

I didn't say that all Samsung memory would not work, but atleast the low latency 2-2-2-5 stuff is suspect. Corsair doesn't fab their own memory chips, and many others use the same chips in their RAM as well. Samsung makes the chips in Corsair 3200XL. I think some of the less aggressive...

To update everybody on my dual-channel memory problem: I determined that one of my Crucial Ballistix modules was bad, so I sent it back to Crucial and received an RMA replacement. I put the replacement DIMM and other module in sockets 3 & 4. WORKED GREAT!!! speeds were DDR400, timings...

PCI-E technology development

If you are going Intel, I would definately get the PCI express setup. I would go that route except I cannot find any 6800 GT's or Ultras for PCI express. It's not for any advantage in video card performance today, but it does help future-proof yourself a little bit and I am really looking...

I received my RMA'd Ballistix DDR500 module yesterday, and it ran Prime95 all night in sockets 3 and 4. I haven't tried 1 and 2 yet... as I wanted to maximize my chance for success. :-) Seems like the wind was blowing in my direction for a change!

I also have an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum for testing, and everything crashed on that board too. :/ That's why I say it could be the chipset.
