something tells me OP wont be overclocking... and if he/she does, would you rather have a much more stressed dual running all the time or a slightly o/c quad??
No sir, u dont fight up to 2.6, u fight to reach 2.7+ and that's because of immature bioses
everything is stock for my 2.57 overclock except the .1v cpu increase <------- that's 2 settings for the o/c
why do u say this?? there are tons of reviews on the web illustrating the performance-per-clock improvement of the phenom core over athlon... ur comment is very uneducated... just as intel fanboys laugh at anyone buying amd right now, i laugh hysterically at 790fx owners running athlon
i own the dfi 790fx and phenom 9500 with an nvidia 7950gt and am very happy.. will be happier once i purchase the 3870 or 3870x2
i kinda got pulled into this system by purchasing the phenom as soon as it came out for my asus m2n-e board since i needed the 2 extra cores, and later got the dfi...
i've killed 2 athlon xp boards (both asus) just by going into the bios to do normal setting changes (no overclocking)... both were normal-use computers for a long time (2+ years)and just by entering the bios and saving changes, the bios chips died...
im assuming bios chips are higher quality...
im assuming u mean physical beating, like blunt-trauma beating?? im pretty sure the only trauma cpus get are heat related, which is nullified with the dry ice, no?
anyone think these cpus at these clocks would go long-term 24/7 if they were constantly supplied the ice ?
i bought the phenom to replace my 4200+ on an m2n-e... the 2 extra cores were desperately needed
month later i bought the dfi...
that's basically how im in my position... my hopes are this dfi board will be the heart of my main rig for 3+ years, but nehalem is knocking
ugh i dont know anything about ur board or ur bios... i had an asus m2n-e with 4200+ 90nm at 2.7ghz...
u lower the multiplier on HT, not raise... ur first goal is to keep HT below 1000ghz and ur memory below it's rated speed while ur testing ur cpu's limits
EDIT: ahh nm ill leave it, see...
if i could purchase intel atm, i'd get a mature p35 board, spend an hour overclocking and be done with it... i wont buy brand new tech hot off the assembly again like i did here...
not atm on this board, i need 266 ref and the 1/3/08 beta bios raised it from 250 to about 259-260 max, and i cant get it stable at 255 with 10.5x cpu and 8x-7x nb/htt... if they get 280+ ref possible on this board with phenom, ill be happy
i cant get these corsair ballistix pc2-8500 above...
"Imagine our confusion as we desperately struggle to understand why our system is Prime95 stable for days yet continues to crash under absolutely no load."
lol that was my problem exactly.. it's gone now that i got the sm bus controller driver installed... my new stable high is 246 ref but i...
