FYI MSI just released a beta 1.4b2 bios for K8N Neo Platinum that has full mobile support. Running at 245x10 1.75 with no need to use clockgen anymore! I can boot at 285x8.5 set in the bios also. Seems to be a great bios.

From what I understand DDR2 will be more of a stepping stone for DDR3. I don't believe that DDR2 will contain the market for long if it even does. DDR3's biggest advantage will be the low voltages it can run at. DDR2 is actually an old spec now that was developed just after DDR1. DDR3 will...

thats like putting a v8 in a geo metro. there are other improvements besides the type of memory that allow newer boards to run faster processors. your mosfest, resistors and voltage regulators cannot support the newer cpus, hence no support. give it up. buy a new board or be happy with what...

Might be time to replace the Koolance. The newer CPU's are really going to push the limit of the Koolance systems. I get 41C load with a custom watercooling setup Cascade/Chevette/MCP600 at 2525 using 1.7vcore. I was getting 62C with a Zalman 7000 thats barely audible at 2400 1.65vcore.

I just used the factory rear bracket and screwed into that. Works great. One thing though, my Zalman 7000 didn't do that great cooling the A64 overclocked at all. Dropped over 20C when I installed my WC setup. I tried reseating the Zalman about 5 times to ensure it was getting good contact...

I've read once where a Mobile 2800 worked fine on an Asus K8V. I've done so much reading on the mobiles I really can't remember where but its the only one I've ever read that worked correctly without anything to set in the bios.

Its glue. You can see excess oozing out the side on mine. And they sure did use alot of it. Looks like the entire backplate is covered.

nevermind i was reading right. your volcano 7+ is not good enough. look into an alx800 + smart fan2. will do wonders for a reasonable cost.

Here's the deal for me. When I set it for 1.55 in Crystalcpuid it actually enables the voltage I set in the bios (minus -.06 reported). So when I have 1.81 selected in bios, setting it in windows will give me 1.75-1.76 actual. Sometimes it boots up with the correct voltage, sometimes it...

OMFG This chip rocks! Somehow its using the correct voltage (actually .06 below what its set at) but I am currently running at 245x10, memory is at 205 2-2-2-6. Have run prime95 for 30 mins and one run of 3dmark2k1 for 21800 pts. I think i will hold off there until I get my watercooling...

I got it from OCUK. There is a thread under motherboards called the definitive K8N Neo Plat Thread. It's completely different and it seemed to give me more FSB but still won't let me use mobile with correct voltage. I have figured out a workaround but it kinda sucks. I can use Crystalcpuid...

I have a MSI K8N Neo Platinum + AMD Mobile Athlon 64 3200+ 'CG' and cannot get the voltage to work properyl except for manually setting it in clockgen. When you restart after you use clockgen it shows 1.55 (for 1.60) in bios but if you save it will revert to .97. I've tried both the shipping...

    A64 3200+ 62W mobile o/c results

I've yet to get my MSI K8N Neo Plat to get the voltage saved above 1.17. At default its .91 at 1.6 its .99 at 1.8 its 1.17. I can change the multiplier and voltage with clockgen fine but it will not get the voltage right with the bios. I'm using a Mobile Athlon 64 3200+ 'CG' revision.
