I've switched to Vista 64-bit, with a new Q6600 @ 3.2GHz, 8GB DDR2, and 9600GT. I'm not going back to XP. All of my video editing applications work fine and fully utilize all four cores. Vista and all applications run smooth as butter on my system. Sometimes I wish I would've bought two...
I have a Gigabyte GA-EX38-DQ6 that has onboard Realtek ALC889A audio. My old computer had an Audigy 2. I'm running Vista 64-bit, and the ALC889A sounds good for listening to music. But the mixer is lacking an equalizer and treble/bass controls. So everything sounds muffled to me. The mixer only...
I have a Q6600(G0 stepping/VID: 1.2875v) that I am overclocking to 3.2GHz(8x mult x 400MHz). In the BIOS I selected Vcore of about 1.32, but CPUZ and HWMonitor show a lower value of 1.29v. Should I trust BIOS value over what's reported from CPUZ/HWMonitor?
I have loadline calibration turned...
Can I install a power supply that has a large fan on it? Like this Antec. It appears that the mounting holes only allow for this power supply to be mounted with the fan down. The case has a raised area in middle to support the supply. I'm not sure if bottom facing fan is good...
Wow! Nice deal on 1066 memory! I ordered too soon. I ordered the Mushkin HP 2x2gb instead. Hopefully they will also go down in price, so I can get some money back. Newegg will give money back within 30 days of price drop. These are 2.0v. Standard is 1.8v. Personally I'd rather have lower voltage.
I'm not sure what to think about this case. Got it for $50, so I probably shouldn't complain. I was originally going to purchase a Cooler Master Cosmos 1000. It is a heavier case, with padded side door to keep the noise down. I also have an Antec case that is a lot heavier, due to it being made...
I'm getting a Q6600 with a X38 board and plan to overclock it to 3.6GHz. At 3.6GHz, I've read that the memory would run at exactly DDR800. Is there a way to bump up the memory speed faster, while leaving the CPU speed at 3.6GHz?
Has a door on it. Why do all these new designed cases have doors? I don't want to be opening a door, everytime I eject and put a CD/DVD in my burner! Where are all the good cases without doors? Otherwise, a good deal for a media center PC, where you want to hide the front.
I've recently read several reviews that compared these cards. Every review shows different power consumptions. One review shows 9600GT with lower consumption, while another has ATI in the lead.
I currently have a 7600GT which only uses approx 100 watts max. I'd like to find a replacement that...
Where exactly are you seeing Q6600 for $199? Current prices are $250-279 everywhere. You don't need 3rd party cooling for Q6600. The retail heatsink is good enough, even with an overclock of 3.6GHz. Mine is running 56-58c on stock cooling. Low enough temps and 100% stable.
The problem with that AMS enclosure, is that it requires a specific RAID controller chipset to work with. The ones that Fry's have, includes the pci card in the box. This means you can't take the AMS to different computers and plug it in without that pci card. It does not have built-in hardware...
That review was for the MS2C1, a different enclosure.
But I'll tell you my story on this MS2UT....
I would like to comment on the MS2UT that I recently purchased. It is a mixed bag of problems. I have two Maxtor 7200 Proline 500GB drives in it, in a RAID-1. Sometimes when I power up the...
I bought both the Samsung 225bw and 226bw. I ended up returning the newer 226bw. I ran LCD gradation and banding tests on both monitors and could see no difference in quality. The 226bw had the same amount of backlight bleed as the 225bw. The 226bw has a "dynamic" backlight that adjusts it's...
Yes people. Listen to weepul. Look at the address. Never sign up for anything "free", unless it comes directly from the manufacturer using the manufacturer's official website. This looks like a way for them to collect information to add to a mailing list. A lot of people on here are so gullible...
