Thanks for the advice.
Yeah, noted that enthusiasts don't tend to use Belkin, but in all honesty, apart from Linksys, nearly every router manufacturer gets negative reviews. And I thought I'd give the Belkin a shot as I got it quite cheap and I've a few friends who had no problems with it.
The...
Requesting some guidance on a networking / router problem.
I have been using a Belkin N300 router for 6+ months with no issues. About 3 months ago, my ISP upgraded the ADSL broadband package to a fibre optic to home solution - the upgrade went smoothly and I have not had any issues until...
Using WD drives, but there are all SATA drives. Besides, even if hard drive is faulty, PC should still POST or at least monitor should still power on right?
Anyway thanks for the advice!
I think it is a hardware issue since I don't get post for quite a few minutes and monitor does even power on from standby. Actually doubt it is the PSU since the lights on the front panel of the case do go one (both red and green ones) - hard drives seem to be spinning too.
Damn, anyway...
Happened to me once, CPU heatsink fell off and the since the board couldn't sense any fan on CPU it promptly switched it off. Once I opened up the case, found the heatsink had fell off - the bar holding it on top of the CPU snapped in half (I use a vertical case). Check to see if CPU fan is...
Need some advice.
Family member's PC is acting up. When powered on, the PC sometimes takes around 5 minutes to get to BIOS (and for monitor to power on), once that happens, Windows XP loads normally and PC acts normal. Since the lag is before the POST, I would tend to think the OS is ok -...
Problem identified after opening up case - Zalman cooler clip lever snapped in 2 and the heat sink fan fell off!!! (I use a vertical Cooler Master Centurion 5). Now that was freaky. Suppose then it is time for a new heat sink.
I just tried to boot up my PC this morning and on my first try, POST was completed and Windows was loading . . . suddenly the PC powers off. I try to turn it on again, this time entering the BIOS to check if it identifies the SATA hard drives (I have prior experience of a fried SATA controller)...
I installed a new 250G hard disk into my PC and all seemed fine after formatting. The next day when I started up the PC, on POST I got the following error :
"Ultra D.M.A. Mode 5 S.M.A.R.T. Capable but Command Failed. Press F1 to resume."
After pressing F1, the screen goes blank, a cursor...

I was also thinking of installing some form of linux on my old Fujitsu laptop (PIII-M, 1.2GHz), which runs darn slow with Win XP - start up takes forever.
I was wondering whether there is any hardware firewall solution in the P5K-E Wifi if I set it up as an access point. Could find any documentation about it in the manuals.
Thanks.
