Is there any flaws with trickle down economics?

Gov't gives money to big business in hopes it trickles down to the middle and lower classes but doesnt state how/when/what to spend the money on, or even to spend it on anything... bubble up seems to work better.

To buy or not to buy

Buy a vanilla 6800 for >$280 and you'll have a great card with cash left over. Or blow it on a 6800GT... like I did. ;)

I am building my first computer could use a lot of advice.

Cases - LianLi, Chieftec, Thermaltak PSUs - OCZ, Antec, Enermax, Fortron, Thermaltake Monitors - I like ViewSonic, not sure about the others Motherboards - ASUS, MSI, EPOX, ABIT, DFI, CHAINTEC CD/DVDs - Lite-On, Plextor RAM - LOTS of good ones out there: Kingston, Corsair, OCZ, GEIL...

6800GT

I've got the LeadTek so of course that would be my advice. Quieter than the rest, OCs easily to Ultra levels, and it comes with one of the best bundles including Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow.

Leadtek 6800GT, $394.75 shipped, in stock

I bought a PNY 6800GT from them when their site said it was in stock... of course it wasnt, when the card was supposed to be shipped it was delayed for at least a week, and I was charged still. Good luck.

fx5600ultra, any good? looking to upgrade

I would only buy a 5600 Ultra if it were $20. You're better off getting some sort of 9700 or 9800 card for that price range, or a 5700 Ultra.

And this card smokes Doom3 at high LOD with the goodies turned up. I believe you will also get Pandora Tomorrow and Prince of Persia. Mine clocks to 410/1.12 with default cooling and voltages.

Three PSUs

Why I wont get Fortron: 18A on the +12V rail. Same for Antec... in the same price range, you get less amps. Enermax seems to be decent, but the two that I looked at had no reviews, so I cant tell if it's even quiet. PCP&C I couldnt even find. 32dBA? Out of the question unfortunately.

Three PSUs

First off, the PSU will beed to be able to run a midrange A64 processor, one HDD, two optical drives, a floppy, and my 6800GT. I've got my choices narrowed down to three, and I'm looking to spend around $80 on a good PSU... now for the lineup: OCZ PowerStream 420W COOLMAX Black 550W 14cm...
