BFG 7900GS Overclock Issues HELP

I'm not sure what your problem is. When I unlocked my GS, I had to lower my o/c from 585/1600 to 570/1600 to get it stable. I still got higher fps and 3dmark scores, though. I even did the volt mod to get to 650 core and I still have no issues.

Radeon X850XT PE vs GeForce 7600GT

I used to have an X800 GTO^2 w/ 16 pipelines @ 533/601, basically X850XT + performance and specs. It just died a few days ago and I got a 7600GT to try out. Performance was about the same for the games I use, and in the 3DMark benchies. I didn't try HDR as I upgraded to a BFG 7900GS...

We're talking performance for the price. In BFG 7900GS case, it is a $185 (currently @ newegg) overclocked (not stock) 7900GT (or in my case volt modded to 7900GT-O-). Up here in Canada I got it basically for $160 CAD (approximately $139 USD) after the $40 CAD rebate, where the cheapest...

7900gs vs 7900gt

I just my voltmod using a paperclip and a bottle of rear window defroster repair kit from Canadian Tire automotive store. I went from 570 to 650 core stable.

7900gs vs 7900gt

Bear in mind the BFG 7900GS unlocks to 24pp/8vp, so you get a 7900GT for a 7900GS price.

BFG7900GS. It is the only 7900GS that unlocks to 24pp/8vp (7900GT config). Mine is running @ 575/1650, and cost me $160 CAD + taxes after $40 rebate.

The extremely high scores are probably because of SLI configuration.

You're welcome! I tried the built-in sound briefly, and like all on-board audio, it is not worth the performance hit, and the quality is bad. Even a cheap sound card (I've got an old Aureal Vortex AU8810) kills on-board audio. Try it, you may like it, then you can buy a cheap or expensive...

Also, bear in mind that the ASRock 939Dual has an optional riser/daugher card that supports socket AM2 and DDR2 memory.

It's not possible to remove the AGP HSI (high speed interface) that sits between the PCI-e native GPU and the AGP connector. Even if you could somehow do it, the connector is still for AGP. If you go AMD s939, you can always get the ASRock 939Dual SATA2 (what I have) which has both AGP and...

6600GT to 7900GT

I went from a GF4 Ti4200 to a 6600GT for a couple of months and wow what a difference. Then I wasn't satisfied with the performance in Far Cry and Quake 4, so I sold it and bought a Sapphire X800 GTO^2 o/c past X850XT specs. I think it will last me at least a year before I go any higher <knock...
