Well, I got a similar reply from Samsung and from two Samsung's technicians that examined the photos I took. They all say that the problem was related to a faulty monitor even when that problem exist on almost all TN panels out there. If you are sure that a new monitor will not solve the...

Thats pretty interesting, perhaps just before returning the monitor you can call Samsung, explainning your disconfort to see what they have to say. Overall Samsung has a good customer support. I currently have a credit for two SM760B monitors I've returned because I didn't liked the TN vertical...

Yep, that's what I thought. Here a good 19" can be US$600 to US$700 due to taxes, but US$800 is really too much for a ~16ms montior. About the reviews, prad.de has a very good one, but its bassed on the model with a S-MVA panel wich I presume is no more on production. The actual one for sure...

I have read that a kind of backlight bleeding can happen because the frame of the screen is too tight over the LCD pannel, pressing it a bit too hard over the priferical LCD cells. In this case, in time and when the monitor gets older the external frame relaxes and the LCD gains some space. If...

Jej xtknight and I understood something different, pencilcase, this "wave" is static/fixed or pulsates or move somehow? xtknight I'm perplex about all this S-PVA vs PVA issue. The fact is that Samsung didn't have any 17/19" S-PVA pannel on production, but the monitor is listed and commented...

I bet that this can be some sort of interference, product of the VGA input. I will watch out anyway. That's bad, because there are few 17" monitor that uses *va pannels, but if you can't get the best of it on your actual configuration better to start searching for something better. I think...

pencilcase: Many thanks to you, this are good news :) Perhaps that explains why none of the sm770p owners report to have this problem. I will try to test it myself on Samsung's showroom using THIS test picture. ddanky (the one that first posted about this problem) says that he can see the...

pencilcase: Thanks very much, what I'm looking for is to check if the SM770p has THIS PROBLEM As you can see, there is a *static* pattern running through the gradient. This picture was took on a SM970p on a DVI interface, and I supect that the panel was calibrated somehow. You can use THIS...

Hi PencilCase, I was going to ask you if you can run some test on your SM770p to see if you can get the dithering everyone is complaining on the bigger model 970p, but since you're using a VGA input (plus the size of the panel) its likely that you can't get any consistent result.

I feel a bit dissapointed about this article too, because they didn't mention a thing about VP930b backlight bleeding, something that they usually check on every model. :-/

I'm gathering information about Acer AL1923, it uses the same MVA panel as the VP930b and some people says that it has less backlight bleeding, but still I couldn't see a picture to confirm it.

Oh but, the viewing angles are pretty wide for a TN: 170/170 at least as stated on Viewsonic's page, that why I thought the it has some kind of coating to reach thouse values.

    LCD Buyer's Guide

I was checking up the specs of the Viewsonic vp720b for a friend and found some inconsistences. The pannel seems to be a TN 4ms g2g one, but the viewing angles don't match (they are too wide but still, you can see the classic TN "shadow" near the top border). Can the clearmotiv coating boost the...

ThanatosGOD: something I've learned after months of read reviews of many models is that there is impossible to get an idea of how the product looks just reading. You have done well to try to look to some screens to get an idea of how the product might look. Anyway, I've take a sight to the...

I'm looking for information about Acer AL1923 monitor. So far I couldn't find any review about it. Any idea wich Samsung can be the equivalent to the 8ms PVA pannel it has? Thanks!
