HELP, I'm Unable to access internet on new pc

DVD +/- RW drive question

You can take them out if you don't need them, but keep them in reserve. If the new DVD is going to fail, it will most likely do so in the first 30 days. I like to keep a second drive in as a slave incase I need to copy a disk.

Installing new video card

Remove the old drivers. Be sure you have good copies of the new drivers. Watch carefully to avoid static electricity damage, as video cards are extremely susceptible to static. Otherwise, you will have not difficulties and no need to reformat.

anyone have a 386 as a router?

The 386 will "work" but my guess is that you will spend a lot more money than you need. You can get a very decent machine, server even, for less than $75 at www.pcsurplusonline.com that will consume less of your time and dollars over the next few years, and will be more fun.
