/facepalm Why didn't you tell us that it was an option from the start? :) Decide your budget and get the fastest stuff you can afford. That's the only way to buy components.

Latter of the two options if I had to choose. You say you don't think 5850 will be of much use, do you think you'll benefit of a faster CPU more? I think the money is better spent on the GPU, i5 750 is plenty of processing power.

DDR2 is just as good as DDR3. You won't notice the difference in any situation. I'm thinking if I would upgrade right now, I'd go with the X4 620 and hopefully OC it to ~3.2-3.3 with some cheap board and use the 4GB of DDR2 I have.

Why doesnt Anandtech review heatsinks anymore?

Don't really care, I only read SPCR for HSF reviews. At least they're consistent and don't use different fans on different heatsinks ffs.

Very strange problem with hard drive!

That happened to my old Maxtor 80GB drive. Booting up the system took like 10-15 minutes with that drive connected even though the OS was installed on a different drive. The drive was making a horrible sound and I'm pretty sure it was busted. I salvaged the most important stuff, which was a pain...

That PSU is making me shake my head. Why do people want to buy cheap 700W PSUs on relatively high performance systems is beyond me. It's not the part you want to cheap out on.

First review of HD5770 up

And it better have similar power consumption with 5770 and it's in my future as well. I was a little disappointed in the performance of the 5770 (what's with Crysis?) so I hope there's something to fill the gap and make 5830 or whatever the clear choice. Or I'll just wait for the 6000 series...

Whoa, I think Hell just froze over...

I like it as well, though I think it's too tall. What's the point of having that room up there? Is it work some WC purposes? I don't see the need for overly tall cases at all. Who has more than two optical drives in a consumer level system? Same goes for HDDs, I'm never going to use more...

DVI to DVI Problem..

Well since DVI -> VGA works fine, the output is ok. I don't know why DVI -> HDMI doesn't work though. I had a similar problem with my 20,1" Viewsonic LCD. It started to lose its picture (via DVI) and sometimes when booting up, it took like ten or so minutes for the picture to show up and then...
