I used the only drivers I could seem to find on the ASUS site and just figured that it was for both SATA and RAID drivers. EDIT: From what I've read, ASUS just calls their SATA drivers RAID drivers.

I loaded the motherboard drivers that I got off the ASUS website (obviously I have an ASUS motherboard.) I looked through the BIOS and didn't see anything that looked like it should have been enabled; like I said, the drive shows up in the BIOS in the boot priority settings and whatnot as well...

I just bought a new 160GB Hitachi SATA hard drive to replace my old 80GB IDE one and I'm having trouble getting the XP install disc to recognize it. I've already partitioned and formatted the new disk with a program that came with it, and I can see it in My Computer and can store data on it...

There's nothing wrong with the IDE stuff, like I said, I reverted back to my old cables thinking the cables weren't the problem. When I saw the error back again, I put the new ones back in and the error disappeared. As for the case ventilation, I have two case fans - an intake on the side...

Started doing the same freezing thing..again. Friend suggested I should put on some better thermal paste, so I did - worked all day yesterday, just got on today and it crashed minutes after I booted up.

The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\D. Strangely enough, it hasn't crashed once since the reformat...so maybe that error is insignificant?

If I remember right, both times I reformatted when I put in this hardware (I did it twice already, I don't really see how a third time will help..) it had problems when I was simply using Windows Update. I'm not 100% sure of that one, though. Also, I'm a gamer, so not being able to install...
