I actually prefer Asus's layout because you can fit two PCI cards with two PCI-e cards install. The Abit only comes with two PCI slot and the bottom PCI-e card will block one of the PCI slots.

I have a similar mobo to you. I decided to just upgrade because for the price you pay for a 3.2E you can buy a new mobo and an A64 3000+ (which made me depressed).

Totally correct. After all we'd be seeing Conroe in July and then of course you hafta wait a few months until all the kinks get worked out in the motherboards so that's an even longer wait. Instead of waiting you can buy something now and have fun.

Just to be nitpicky, it's just A64 3200+ and A64 X2 4200+. Athlon XP is the old Socket A processor.

My old 9800Pro was starting to artifact horribly in and out of games so I decided it was time to get a replacement. I'm really trying to hold out for AM2 or Conroe this summer before I do a major upgrade.

As far as I can tell, BTX was just Intel's excuse for better cooling for their hot future processors (yes I know it's designed for better airflow). Then AMD started making processors that produced less heat, the same with Intel. Now BTX has kinda stalled since that need isn't there yet.
