Look at the 3dlabs "realizm" series NOT the VP series those things are old. Sometimes people will chose dell because it is a supported configuration. Thats why someone chooses a professional card. Try spending $5K on maya 6 and then asking their tech support why you are having a problem running...
I haven't heard of any success with using the new drivers for modding gaming cards to quadros/FGLs. I assume the PCI-E ones will be even harder. The problem with the professional cards is that if you want to game, your gonna pay through the nose. I would love to see how the 3dlabs realizm 800...
bat the SGI has specific hardware customized for a certain task. While the G5/Opterons may perform better overall, they pale in comparsion. In fact the SGI Onyx4 is the absolute best computer based editing system on the market.
Here's a poll: How many here have a professional graphics card that they bought with their own money(your work did not buy it, you did) Why did you select this card?
Has anyone actually used NV's SLI on the quadro series? How do you know it's better? Is it compatible? Is it a certified configuration? There are too many questions to say it's better. For the same price you can buy the 3DLabs Realizm 800 as the 3400 SLI.
Find me a CAD program that would be limited on a machine because it didn't have SLI. We are not dealing with games here; faster fill rates may not always indicate better performance. I think 3Dlabs has really made a great product with the realism series, and they get my vote.
The new benches are coming out on these cards, and it looks like 3dLabs is the new king of workstation graphics. However, whats more interesting is that fact that ATI's migrange V5100 is beating the FX 4000 in several applications. The FX 4000 is $1600, the V5100 is $700 and the Wildcat realizm...
I wonder if Doom 3 will see any benifit from the professional openGl cards like the quadro Fx 4000 as compared to the 6800u. The quadro 4000 already kills the 6800u in all other OpenGL Apps by double. Also the game was designed on the quadro's so i can only wonder.
Talk about expensive, the new quadro 4000 PCI-e will support SLI as well. Thats $4000 is video cards right there, now factor in dual AMD 250's, and 8 gigs of 600 DDR2. Nobody could touch the performance of that thing and could probably make high end viz servers a thing of the past. Although the...
Anyone have experience with this type of design. I'm looking at getting the Themaltake Pipe101 i've seen all good reviews but none that are very informative. How do these things work? Since they have liquid inside, are they postion sensitive? Can they really reduce the temps by up to 10C? Help...
Run Spec viewperf7.1 using your current gaming card and the compare that with its quadro counterpart. It's all in the drivers expect for a few hardware features not utilized in gaming. I'm not exactly sure if OpenGL runs better in games on a quadro or FireGL, when I get Doom3 I will report back.
