the 24 pin connectors are the same. EPS12V refers to the 12V connector being 8 pins instead of 4, but IIRC it fits fine if there is extra space around the ATX12v connector.
As long as you watch your temps you should be fine. I happen to underclock (and dramatically undervolt) my laptop, but that is just so I can get better battery life. It makes some sense to OC your laptop if it is running at acceptable temperatures and you leave it plugged in all the time.
