picture request... "tender validation" from a till

does anybody live in a country where the tills display "tender validation..." while processing credit card transactions? I was recently in NZ and this was displayed for a few seconds, and I thought it would be great to get a picture, but couldn't get my camera ready in time, and forgot about it...

non-canon batteries ?

I'm looking for a second battery for my sd300, wondered if anybody had experience with the "knock-off" batteries readily available on e.g. ebay in terms of life, compatibility, whether they really are how many mAH they say? I don't want to spend $60 on another name-brand canon battery, is all.

OP -- $500 more per... what, year? month? having your own (private) space is good, but i don't know if i would ever appreciate it as much as i do now if i hadn't had roommates before. i'd keep your $500 and buy some drinks for your new roommate.

the spec sheet on that player implies that it reads DVDs but doesn't say anything about DVD-RWs or anything like that. do you have any experience with playing DVD{+,-}{R,RW}s in yours?

woe to the poor soul who pops in a disney dvd on his set-top dvd player, for he is forced to sit through 10 minutes of disney logos and "soon to be re-re-re-re-released from the disney vault" crap... and hitting "menu" or "skip" or anything gives you a little "don't touch" icon in the corner of...
