Best IDE configuration??

I don't beleive how anandtech users can complicate a simple issue this far. The basic answer is this : What do you do the most ? Copy from HDD to HDD Copy from HDD to CDRW Copy from DVD to CDRW Whichever one you do the most, the source and dest drives of that operation should best stay on...

USB 2.0 PCI card not working in XP pro

Now i am just putting together info from posts to mean this : Pre-SP1 XP does not support USB 2.0 without adding drivers that came from outside. noctrine is using no external drivers - only buiolt-in drivers. Is the problem obvious or am i missing something..? What i think is noctrine...

strange virus : "Picture of worlds most wanted person"

Yeah, the latest update of AVG Antivirus does not detect this one and it is not mentioned anywhere. What it does is create a file Picture of the worlds most wanted person.exe on every floppy disk that goes into the machine. Found that the scripting host was being launched on start, so removed...

What part on my new comp is bad??

Try resetting BIOS to safe defaults and installing. With my machine, i tweak my BIOS a bit and XP refuses to boot. Also try replacing memory

Can't install XP on my computer...

Try doing these : Reset BIOS to default settings and then change only those settings that need to be, necessarily changed. replacing memory. Try using another copy to check if it is an error with the copied install, or check it out on another machine

Yeah, so looks like there's no way out. Maybe i just have to delete the xp files coz there's no use keeping them. If you can help me out, please do. Or in 24 hours i dump the xp files and get tweaking my 98 install.

How the heck does a 32-bit CPU use 6GB of memory?

A 32-bit processor implies 32-bit data, not 32 bit address. While the 8085 was 8-bit, addressing was 16 bit. While 8086 was 16-bit addressing was 20-bit.

GF2 MX 400 shows up 32 MB instead of 64 in XP. Please help fast

Sorry about not mentioning it but that was what i checked first. It does show as 64.0 MB. But I do not know if the Video BIOS performs an actual mem check or just shows whatever is inscribed about the card in the ROM.

Need new mobo - KT333 or KT400?

I doubt a 333 gives any performance increase as long as the CPU FSB stays 266. Unless a 333 is sure to support the next upcoming AMD CPU with a raised FSB probably 333, I Would still go for a good KT266A. As a review (I think on anand itself) says, The 333 boards perform, at best, as good as...

Plus or not, i think BIOS options won't change much. It should support upto 2100+ minimum. 2200+ is thoroughbred A and 2400 and 2600+ are thoroughbred B. It is to be seen whether the older boards will support these. I think they should and updated Bioses will be provided by the manufacturers...
