dropping a screw inside case/motherboard cause of problems?

I definitely found and removed it before plugging the power back in. I'm going to get another HDD and see if it's the HDD or the motherboard.

DS3 system posts fine, but with one 1 long beep

Hi Kromis. Yes, it is:). Alright, I've run it for 16 hours now, with 31 passes. Only 1 error, test 7, on pass 23. Failing address 0005ac4871c - 1452.5MB. good/bad - d8f2be02/d8f2ae02. Err-bits: 00001000. Count 1, Chan - "blank". Also I've seen some screen shots of memtest86+...

DS3 system posts fine, but with one 1 long beep

I just put this PC together and it posted fine. I was able to install XP and everything. Now it has started to beep once (long) at post, then once XP has loaded, it does continous long beeps. DS3 manual says RAM error. I'm running memtest86+ right now, but I'd appreciate any help. BTW...

I was trying to replace a PCI card, and a screw accidentally fell in and hit the motherboard. Hours later, my slave HDD started showing bad sectors, then failed (basically couldn't complete chkdsk). On next boot, Windows XP was really slow. From then on, XP would get stuck forever on the...

after slave HD has bad sectors, windows won't boot

Thanks, I just tried that, but pretty much the same thing. Why can't I connect just the primary HDD and not the slave HDD also? If I disconnect the slave, it doesn't see the primary either?
