MSI R9 270X: screen fluctuation and abnormal fix from MSI

I regret to say it, but the 13.12 drivers have not totally eliminated screen flicker for me. I've seen it happen four times in the last few days. While it seems to be less often then before, it still happens. Now to decide if I go with the VBIOS update or wait for AMD to get it's s$#%...

Antec Solo with Seasonic X650

The Apple Cinema Display is the only consumer LED backlit 24" IP display on the market (the HP LP2480zx price tag puts it in another class). I guess it follows that only Apple seems to be interested in shipping a LED backlit 27" display.

NEC e-ips ea231wmi review

OLED is a totally different technology than today's LCD w/ LED backlight. And, unfortunately, OLED appears to be years away from coming to 20"+ monitors and 30"+ TVs at anywhere near affordable prices.

Dang, that is a really good price for the U2410. Dell has not been very clear about how they will handle the "new" U2410 firmware with the sRGB dithering fix. It seems that Dell will let you send in your non-updated monitor to be flashed with the new firmware, but Dell may not ship monitors...

I was looking at the U2410 too, but it has a mixed reputation for quality control which doesn't sit right with me considering the price Dell charges for it. Same for the competing HP LP2475w. I believe that all of the alternative monitors you listed above use TN panels, including the LED...

Dell 2410 vs. 2709

IIRC, the Dell 2709 uses a xPVA panel, which may not be the best choice for gaming. There is a 2709 thread here: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1325872 The U2410, while it has its problems, may be the better choice.

Looking for 1920x1080, 24" display... What are my options?

It seems that all IPS monitors are getting some criticism about their aggressive anti-glare coating these days, except perhaps for the Apple IPS LCDs which are glossy. Like you, I also wish there was a store that carried higher end (hell, mid-range even) LCD monitors so you could check them...

Looking for 1920x1080, 24" display... What are my options?

I see you've already pulled the trigger, but if you are not satisfied with the Asus VW246H, you may want to look into the NEC EA231WMi. The EA231WMi is 23" 1920x1080 IPS, and can be had for around $330, which is a fair price for an IPS monitor. In fact, I think I'll be purchasing it myself...

Besides the screen size and pixel pitch, I believe the biggest difference between the LCD2490WUXi2 and LCD2690WUXi2 screens is that the LCD2690WUXi2 is wide gamut. You'll have to decide if that is an important difference considering your work. Between the old wuxi and the new wuxi2 models...
